Music that Represents

We are a group of music fanatics, space geeks and technologists that believe music brings people together for good. Inspired by space, the project is creating collective compositions to act as symbols of our species and be messages for generations to come. Come join the journey!

If you could send a sonic message “out there”, what would it sound like? EARTHLINGS is a global art project connecting humans around the world through the universal language of music. The project starts by crowd-sourcing vocals from across the globe into the EARTHLING Audio Database. This living repository is an open and available audio source for any artist to use for collective compositions, with the task of creating music that represents us as humans. Through the SETI Institute Artist-In-Residence Program, the project is led by composer & musician Felipe Pérez Santiago and astronomer Jill Tarter . We aim to foster collaborative musical compositions that bridge ethnicity, race, culture and geography.

Music + Space to Unite Earthlings

Since the beginning of time, humans have gazed into the sky wondering about the world we inhabit, the yet undiscovered mysteries present in the universe and our position in it. Looking outwards reminds us of the grandeur of existence as we wonder what it means to be human.

We aim to bring people together from across the globe, spurring cross-cultural collaborations. By ignoring our differences and embracing our similarities, we can celebrate what it means to be human.
